Some people are captivated by the lifestyle of sleddog guides and want to experience the 'behind the scenes' world for themselves. Others have their own dogs and want to learn more skills, or simply want to maximise their time with these unique dogs while in the Arctic. Whatever drives you — curiosity, adventure or lifestyle — you are welcome to join us, for one day or one year.
- From a one-day taster to a year-long placement
- Short intensive courses open to anyone
- Autumn training camps available
- Selective long-term internships living in the guide house
Short courses and training camps
All of our shorter intensive guiding courses and autumn training camps are open to anyone. Participants stay in comfortable accommodation and come in to join and learn from the guides during the working day. Although the daily chores around the care of the dogs are repetitive, life on the farm through the ever-changing seasons is pretty varied.
Longer-term internships
Longer-term internships involve a complex application process, since we want to be sure that you are really aware of the realities of life in the Arctic and that you don't have a wholly romantic view of the work before we accept you. Once accepted, you will truly function as part of our team and will live in the guide house alongside our guides, so we need to make sure it is a good fit, both ways.
