Husky hiking is great fun for both person and dog, and can be as rewarding as mushing. You get to take in one of Europe's last great wilderness areas at a calmer pace, with plenty of time interacting directly with your dog — who will love you for the chance to do something out of the ordinary.
- From one-hour walks to full wilderness journeys
- Dogs clipped to a skijoring line on a waistbelt
- Summer hiking or winter snowshoe / ski versions
- Guided or self-guided options
Hiking with the huskies
Hikes range from short one-hour products to full-on journeys. Whilst most are best attempted in the 'non-snow' months, some are also possible in the snowy months with snowshoes or cross-country or back-country skis. Either way, if you have chosen to take dogs with you, the dogs are attached to you with a skijoring line clipped to a waistbelt, so there is no fear that you will accidentally let them go.
Guided or self-guided
You can also hike these trails without husky companions. Some trails are well marked; others are a true navigational challenge through hundreds of kilometres of unmarked Arctic tundra and are only advised for the experienced. Whatever your trip, we are happy to arrange guides or simply point you in the right direction. For a winter hike, please check guide availability ahead of time; in summer we can often arrange a guided hike at short notice.
