Life as a husky guide
Emily writes about her life calling to be a husky guide, how she got hooked early on, and her favourite dog, Bino. Lonan's article on guiding pairs well with Em's, alongside a short story about life in Valimaa. Doris writes (in German) about a Swiss mountain girl's time in the far North, while Catherine and Andy's goodbye blog captures how hard it is to leave the all-consuming chaos of a husky guide's life.
Guides who stayed connected
Josh has been featured on his university's Alumni page and by Adventure.com for working here and with sled-dogs in Australia. Rhi completed part of her Southampton University undergraduate project with us. Luke worked the 2014/2015 season and returned to adopt one of our Taimyrs, Drizen; the duo now travel Europe in a van. Jaelithe (Jay) Swan looked after our dogs twice and stays committed to their development from afar.
Adoption, travel and journalism
Eve's blogs cover adopting one of our dogs and returning to Germany with our laziest dog, Hertz. Leah and Steve's 'workaway the world' shares a couple's experiences here and beyond, including an article Leah wrote for The Bark. Andy and Catherine blog about travelling overland between London and Australia, capturing their time at Hetta Huskies en route.
Journalist Cal Flyn guided here for several months in the arctic winter of 2012 and returned in 2014; despite the drama of her resulting front-page Telegraph Magazine article, she enjoyed her stay. Gabin Desserprit spent 7 months with us during a European journey, and Mark wrote about his time as a trainee guide. Recommendations also come from other farms and owners, such as the malamute owners at Northern Most, who holiday in Hetta.
