Autumn Husky Training

Autumn Husky Training

Join the autumn conditioning season on a 3-day or 7-day sleddog training camp at the farm.

Autumn, with its spectacular colours, is a wonderful time to visit. The colder temperatures see off the mosquitoes, October nights are often below 0°C, and mornings are clear and cold, sometimes with a layer of hoar frost. Daytimes stay pleasant but turn progressively colder until the snow settles for good.

  • 3-day intensive sleddog camp
  • 7-day sleddog training course
  • Train on quads before the snow, then sleds
  • Good physical condition recommended

Autumn farm training experiences

Most dogs, especially our lead dogs who run in the front position on the sled, are trained individually in the summer months. In autumn they have the first opportunity to demonstrate their training progress together with a team. While our experienced dogs are reminded of the joy of running together, we introduce the previous year's puppies to running in the dog team for the first time.

From quads to sleds

In the snowless months we start autumn training on quads, switching to sleds once the snow cover is sufficient and the marsh is frozen. Depending on when you visit and how long you stay, you may experience both. Conditions can be challenging, so you need to be in good physical condition to fully enjoy it.

Taster or week-long camp

Our 3-day 'taster' gives a small peek into life on a husky farm in autumn. Visitors who take part in the week-long package have enough experience by the end of the week to make their own personal contribution to daily farm life. If you are interested in staying with us even longer, please have a look at our guide training programs.
