In Hetta

Cafe Peura, within the Fell-Lapland Nature Centre, opened in 2019 and has fast become a Hetta favourite, with an excellent chef and food. In tourist months it serves set lunches and a variety of cakes and waffles from c.11am - 6pm. The nature centre is 2km from town, at the base of the ski tracks and the start of the hike up Jyppyra. The cafe's chef rents enduro bikes and enduro e-bikes and runs a bike repair workshop.

Post Office's Cafe (Eramaakota): like most places in Lapland, the Post Office serves more than one function — it is also a flower shop, the region's main bakery, a souvenir shop and petrol station, with free open internet in its cafe.

Grill: open until 8 or 9pm most days for fries, burgers, hot-dogs and drinks, and tends to stay open even when most places take holidays. Hotel Hetta, on the shores of Lake Ounasjarvi, serves food daily and has particularly good pizzas. Hotel Jussantupa, opposite the supermarket, serves food daily and has a bar and reception area.

North of Hetta

Galdotieva sits near the Norwegian border, 27 kilometres from Hetta towards Kautokeino, right along the snowmobile routes. It offers accommodation and a good location for meetings and celebrations.

West of Hetta (towards Kilpisjarvi)

Rajabaari Neste Karesuvanto: as in Hetta, the petrol station on the Finnish side of Karesuvanto is multifunctional — a cafe, restaurant, pharmacy, parcel courier, souvenir and outdoor shop, with a sauna and meeting rooms for rent.

Ropin Pirtti provides cabin accommodation and a cafe selling pretty good doughnuts at Ropinsalmi, about 60 kilometres south of Kilpisjarvi. Open for the spring and summer season between April and mid-September. Retkeilykeskus (Kilpisjarvi Hiking Centre) has a fully licensed restaurant seating 200 people, including the traditional Siilastupa where the company was originally started in 1937.

East of Hetta

Fellhotel Vuontispirtti, situated in Ylikyro village in the south-eastern corner of the Pallas-Ounas National Park, is a parish-owned hotel, camping and caravan site, restaurant, cafe and souvenir shop venue with guide services.
