If you have stayed in Hetta for more than a couple of days, you are no doubt wondering what on earth is happening between 5.30 and 6.30pm. Don't worry — it is nothing bad. It is just the sound of a hungry husky pack barking eagerly for food and then howling in appreciation.

A hands-on experience
This evening feeding experience is for those who want a truly hands-on encounter with the dogs and to learn how we care for them — the first real taste of what it means to be a guide working with them daily. It starts with preparing the food and moving it from the kitchen to the farm — by quad and trailer in summer, and by pulk in winter.
Feeding the pack
You'll be assigned to the cage area with an experienced guide, as it involves the least lifting and carrying (even feeding huskies can be physical!) — and it's the most fun, since that's where the unruly pups live! Your guide will explain why different dogs get different amounts, how we set these through weekly dog checks, and why good nutrition and hydration matter. Even children can enjoy this activity safely.
