Our short paddling adventures take in stunning scenery close to the farm. We offer both guided tours (with a guide, hot drinks and snacks) and cheaper facilitated journeys (with maps, route advice and kit hire), starting either from the farm, downtown Hetta, or nearby lakes.

Suonttajoki River & Lake Ounasjärvi Openwater Paddle
This fun but relaxing paddle through stunning scenery is a favourite after-work activity for our guides. You start at our farm, where we kit you out with paddles and lifejackets, then walk to the put-in c.7 mins away. The small starting lake is perfect for beginners; once you've mastered the straight line, you meander down a very windy river to Lake Ounasjärvi and across to its far shore, stopping for a picnic at our wilderness cabin (featured in the New York Times for cloudberry collection and jam making!).
Facilitated: €20/person for 2-3 person canoes, €45/person per kayak. Guided in Canoes: Adults €60, Children €45, Families (up to 5) €175 (3 hours). Guided in Kayaks: Adults €75, Children €60, Families €200 (3 hours).
Lake Muotkajärvi to Lake Ounasjärvi
An alternative half-day adventure involving a c.6km car transfer to the start and a short section of narrow rapids connecting the two large lakes. We get out to look at the rapid and talk through positioning your boat before the waters open onto Lake Ounasjärvi; we return via the beautiful meandering Suonttajoki river.
Guided Journey: Adults €95, Children €65, Families (up to 5) €325 (4 hours, includes lunch in a Mökki and transfers). Facilitated Journey: €40 per person.
Paddling from downtown Hetta
We have kayaks (standard plastic kayaks, a wavehopper, two K1s and a K2) and stand-up-paddle boards available to rent from our downtown store (@ the Rysä) on the shores of Lake Ounasjarvi.
Lake Kayak / K1 Hire: €35 (3 hours). Inflatable SUP Board Hire: €30 (3 hours; 2-day and 1-week rentals also possible). Guided Kayaking on Ounasjärvi: Adults €75, Children €60, Families (up to 5) €200 (3 hours). River kit: Kayak Hire €30/day, Canoe Hire €40/day.
