Adopt a retiree.
Give a working dog the sofa life.
We don't put dogs down when they stop running. So every season, we have retirees looking for the next chapter — a slower one, with a couch, a fire, and a person of their own.
What we'll do for you
- Match you to the right dog. Tell us what you're looking for — a runner, a couch potato, good with kids, calm around cats — and we'll go through our retirees (and the dogs we've rescued from other farms) to find one that suits.
- Handle the paperwork. Vaccinations, microchip, pet passport, export documentation — we sort it.
- Arrange the travel. Wherever in Europe you are, we'll work out the logistics. We've rehomed huskies as far as Colorado, New York and the UK.
- Never charge a fee. Adoption itself is free. You cover only the travel costs to get the dog to you.
If you're in Scandinavia
This is the simplest case. The paperwork is light, the borders are friendly, and dogs travel by road within a day. Most of our Scandinavian adoptions happen within a few weeks of the first conversation.
If you're elsewhere in Europe
A bit more involved — rabies titres, import permits, the usual — but very doable. We work with Scandipet out of Sweden, who route dogs via Amsterdam to most European destinations. They're substantially cheaper and more reliable than any Finland-based option we've used.
If you're outside Europe
Possible, but slow and not cheap. Plan for 3–6 months of preparation. We've done it before — most often to the US (which has its own rules and timelines via the CDC) and Canada. Get in touch early.
What we ask of you
- A genuine home. Not a kennel, not a yard. Inside the house, with people.
- Honesty about your setup. Other dogs? Kids? Cats? Tell us. We've got 200 dogs to match against your situation — we'll find one that fits.
- Patience for the transition. A husky who has spent 8–12 winters in a kennel takes a few weeks to learn what a sofa is for. They get there.
- An update now and then. Photos of them on said sofa, ideally.
Have a specific dog in mind?
If you've fallen for a particular husky during a tour, just say their name when you write to us. We can usually work something out.
